- Iglesia Ni Cristo sets new Guinness World Record for the largest human individual-formed sentence
- The new record outnumbered India’s 16,550 in 2016 for the sentence “You can you will”
- The record attempt is a part of the religious organization’s Worldwide Walk to Fight Poverty
Filipino-founded Christian sect Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) claimed to have set a new Guinness World Record for the largest human individual-formed sentence, Sunday, at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila by forming “Proud to be a member of Iglesia ni Cristo”.
“We broke the record for the largest human sentence with 23,235 participants,” said Bro. Erwin Briones of the INC-Public Information Office as per Tempo.
To certify the achievement, Guinness adjudicator Paulina Sapinska was reportedly present at the event.
The record from the INC outnumbered the previous holder from India with 16,550 participants for the sentence “You can you will” in 2016.
Aside from the new record set, the religious group attempted to break four more Guinness World Records — largest photo mosaic, largest charity walk in a single venue, most nationalities in a charity walk, and largest charity walk in multiple venues.
According to the sect, based on a GMA News story, the record attempt is a part of its Worldwide Walk to Fight Poverty.
INC spokesperson Edwil Zabala said, “As of today we have 20 eco-farming and resettlement sites here in the Philippines. That’s long term help to those who are less-fortunate. Short term, we do conduct Lingap sa Mamamayan.”
The INC is also the present holder for the Largest Charity Walk across Multiple Venues in 24 hours, obtained in 2014.
