Francisco Domagoso, more popularly known as Isko Moreno has been appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as undersecretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), according to the appointment papers released by Malacañang on Wednesday.
The appointment of Isko was seven months after he quit as chairman of the North Luzon Railways Corp. (Northrail).
As per his reaction to the appointment, Isko said he is grateful for the President’s trust in him.
“Malugod po akong nagpapasalamat sa muling pagtitiwala na ipinagkaloob sa atin ng ating Pangulong Duterte,” Isko said.
[I’m very thankful for the trust given to me again by our President Duterte.]
“Malaking trabaho at responsibilidad po ito ngunit gagawin ko po ang lahat upang magampanan ang aking tungkulin inatang sa ‘tin sa abot ng aking makakaya para sa mga nangangailan natin mga mahihirap na kababayan,” he added.
[It is a huge job and responsibility, but I will do everything to perform my duties with the best of my abilities to help our poor and the needy countrymen.]
Isko resigned as chairman and member of the board of directors of Northrail in October 2017, just three months after his appointment, citing personal reasons.
Isko was a former Vice Mayor of Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, and a former three-term councilor of the city’s first congressional district. He was also an actor, using the screen name Isko Moreno, who became known for his mature roles.
