A Chicago man who wanted to elude the authorities found himself in such a delicate and unusual position when he was trapped in a chimney.
James Thompson, 32, was captured by the police after somehow getting onto the roof of a building near 115th Street and ending up stuck in a chimney.
Emergency responders had to drill into the bricks for him to be free.
A neighbor said he was sleeping when he heard all the commotion on the roof.
A resident of the apartment described the scene: “All you could see was the top of his head sticking out of there and he was saying, ‘help, help, help.’ ”
The emergency responders were able to pull Thompson out and police officers were able to get him and he was then taken to the hospital.
Thompson has been charged with several misdemeanors, including attempting to elude police so as not to be captured.
