The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has earned a total of P15.98 billion during the first quarter of 2018.
The P15.98-billion revenue for the first three months of the year was up 28.24% from P12.45 billion posted in the same period last year.
The total amount was comprised of the combined earnings from all PCSO products: Lotto, Sweepstakes, Keno, and Small Town Lottery (STL).
PCSO General Manager Alexander Balutan said: “I want to be transparent to the Filipino people. That’s why we publish this [our accomplishments] in newspapers. You can challenge any data na pinublish namin kung mali ito [any data we published if you think it is wrong.] Remember, PCSO is not receiving anything, any single centavo from the taxes of the people. We get our revenues from the gaming public.”
If the betting public has no confidence [in us], the business is lost. Wala tayong lahat dito. Wala tayong charity ngayon. Wala ‘yung medical upgrade program natin,” Balutan said. [All of us is not here. We have no charity right now. Our medical upgrade program will also be non-existent.]
Under the PCSO Charter, 55% of its revenue is allocated to prizes automatically, 15% to operational expenses, and 30 percent for charity fund.
“We want to let the public know where their money goes. I would like to appeal to everyone to support PCSO and its products. With more revenues, more funds will be provided to the LGUs and to your constituents,” Balutan said
