- PDEA said there were more than 90 gov’t officials included in the latest ‘narco-list’
- These include 6 or 7 lawmakers from the House of Representatives
- PDEA chief Aaron Aquino added the President may soon reveal the names in the list
MANILA, Philippines – Nearly a hundred government officials were tagged as ‘narco-politicians’ in the latest ‘drug list’, this was revealed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Tuesday, June 5.
PDEA director Aaron Aquino said during a press briefing that around 6 or 7 congressmen were named in the list which also include more or less 60 mayors, vice-mayors, and military and police officers.
The ‘narco-list’, according to Aquino, likewise included the names of 17 elected officials and even PDEA agents and officers.
Among the incumbent officials in the list are coming from Calabarzon area, Northern Mindanao and Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
Aquino added the validation process are still ongoing and President Rodrigo Duterte is set to reveal the names in the coming days, most likely in the next two weeks.
“Any time that the President wish that this list would be disclosed again, then I’ll do it,” said Aquino.
PDEA’s revelation came just weeks after exposing the names of 207 barangay officials allegedly involved in illegal drugs activities which were validated by their agency and the police force before it was made public.
Of this number, Aquino said, more than 60 were reelected in the recently-held barangay election.
