349 police personnel were found positive for illegal drugs from their drug test, according to data from the Philippine National Police Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS).

Atty. Alfegar Triambulo, inspector general of PNP-IAS said that President Rodrigo Duterte has named many personalities involved in the illegal drug trade and along with it, the PNP has also strengthened its campaign against illegal drugs within its ranks.

In the erring policemen including those from random drug tests conducted by the PNP and police caught in buy-bust operations, those with a Police Officer 1 (PO1) rank had the most number of offenders with 115, while the numbers decrease as the rank goes higher. The sad part is one officer with a police superintendent rank was also caught.

Of the 349 who tested positive, 341 are uniformed personnel while 8 are non-uniformed.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) had the most number of drug-using cops.

According to PNP-IAS, some of the cops caught using illegal drugs has taken AWOL (absent without leave) status, while some gave lame excuses.

PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde earlier said he will impose discipline and respect to his men:
