Marcelito Pomoy recently created a buzz after he became the latest Filipino to be invited by TV host/comedian Ellen DeGeneres to appear in her talk show “The Ellen Show” in the United States where he impressed the live audience with his singing prowess.
Pomoy, who is known for his rare ability to sing in both female and male voice, was described by DeGeneres as an astounding singer after he performed “The Prayer”, a duet popularized by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion; and the Disney Classic “Beauty and the Beast” sang by Peabo Bryson and Celine Dion.
The Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 Grand Champion has since returned to Manila and appeared as a guest in the November 8 episode of the ABS-CBN morning talk show “Magandang Buhay” hosted by Karla Estrada, Melai Cantiveros-Francisco and Jolina Magdangal-Escueta.
In the show, Pomoy shared that after his performance DeGeneres told him that she called Celine Dion who is her friend and arranged a meeting between them.
“Sabi niya sa akin, tutal paborito mo si Celine Dion, Celine Dion is my friend, tinawagan ko siya na papuntahin ka sa concert niya. Sabi sa akin papuntahin ka sa concert niya, manood at baka maka-duet pa. Then after noon, mag-backstage kayo para mag-meeting kayo,” Marcelito told the Magandang Buhay hosts.
This was what DeGeneres told Pomoy during his appearance in her show, as per a Virtual Pinoy article dated October 31, 2018.
“So, you love Celine Dion. She’s my friend. I called Celine, told her about you. She wants to meet you. You’re gonna go to Vegas, you’re gonna see her show, you’re gonna go backstage, gonna see her at Ceasar’s in Las Vegas and meet her.”
Pomoy said the meeting with Celine Dion might happen in January next year.
