Internet service provider PLDT Inc. is expecting to provide customers faster internet speed with the completion of a new transpacific submarine cable by third quarter next year.
The company has invested P7-billion to join Jupiter’s global consortium. The consortium includes huge companies like Facebook, Amazon, Softbank and NTT Group.
Jupiter’s submarine cable spans 14,000 kilometers (United States-Japan-Philippines cable) and, as per the company, would provide additional capacity of over 22 terabits per second from the Philippines to Japan and 17.6 Tbps to the US West Coast.
According to Inquirer, Jupiter will land in Daet, Camarines Norte.
PLDT chief revenue officer Alfredo Panlilio said it would answer the growing demand for content in Japan and in the United States, as Filipinos access massive amounts of data from companies like Facebook.
Panlilio said that the project “will enable us to further improve the capacity and resilience of the country’s international connectivity and thus continue to deliver unparalleled world-class internet service to our customers.”
Head of PLDT and Smart Enterprise Business Group Juan Victor Hernandez said that the consortium would also serve crucial business customers in the country and more international internet connection options for their customers.
PLDT has recently launched an exclusive business plan in Pampanga, Bataan, and Zambales, Business Mirror has disclosed.
The PLDT Home Fibr Plan priced at P1,599.00 comes with unlimited Fibr Internet of up to 25 Mbps, unlimited calls to Smart, Sun and TNT, free landline, modem and installation.
Senior Vice President and Head of PLDT Home Butch Jimenez said that the company is committed to delivering world-class services to their subscribers by continuously expanding and modernizing their network across the country.
“This is to ensure that our customers enjoy the fastest Internet connection and innovative solutions for their digital needs at home,” Jimenez said.
We will certainly look forward to that!
