The local government of Pasig City has raised over P1.2 billion for the procurement of gadgets in time for online learning.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto announced that the local government has raised P1.2 billion to provide tablets and laptops to its public school students in elementary, junior and senior high school, and their teachers.
“Sa larangan ng edukasyon, nakahanap tayo ng P1.2 billion para sa ating pampubikong paaralan… para sa ating mag-aaral mula elementarya hanggang sa senior high school ng mga tablets, ‘yung iba mga laptop at ‘yung teachers nila bibigyan ng Pamahalaang Pasig ng tablets, laptops or learning devices,” he said via a Facebook Live.
Mayor Vico also promised that they provide tablets to more than 2,000 students of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig to aid them with their online learning.
“Magkakaroon din sila ng tablet. Ang estimate natin ay 2,000 hanggang 2,500 estudyante, more or less. Mabibigyan po natin yon,” he said.
He said that he is already working with the local finance committee to help raise the necessary budget. An estimated P30 million is needed to procure the gadgets of the PLP students.
Meanwhile, Mayor Vico urged the learners to study well and enroll in the upcoming school year eventhough it will be shifted to virtual learning.
“Pakiusap ko sa inyo, mag enroll po kayo. Libre naman po. ‘Wag kayong tumigil sa pag aaral, sayang po ‘yung pagkakataon,” he said.
