“UP scientists work tirelessly for the benefit of Filipino society, despite being underfunded, yet you, Usec. Antiporda, have seen it fit to attack not only the MSI but the valuable contribution of the scientific work of the Filipino Academe,” bahagi ng pahayag nila.
“Considering your ill-fitting background for the job as well as your disregard for the opinions of other Filipino scientists, we call on you to formally retract your statements against the UP MSI and to resign from your position as undersecretary, as both a form of accountability and to give way for other, better qualified candidates to work in the Department,” dagdag pa nila.
“After being asked on-air, on ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo, about his reaction to our sentiments, Usec. Antiporda issues an apology to UP GeogSoc and the UP Community, but has also refused to directly apologize to the UP MSI,” anila.
“It is regrettable that Usec. Antiporda has misjudged the meaning of our letter and while he explained his ‘fit of passion,’ his unfounded accusations against UP MSI were not. We maintain that Usec. Antiporda must retract his statements against the UP MSI fully, and resign from his post so that a better person can take his place.”
Ang GSUP ay isang non-profit non-partisan academic organization na binubuo ng mga undergraduate students na ang layunin ay “to promote the discipline of Geography in the Philippines.”
