Pinamagatan niya itong “The Rescue/ A Thanksgiving Story.”

“It was a Thanksgiving day all over United States. A day in a year when family gatherings are given an utmost importance. But today, a father’s presence is absent in the dining table because his boat was capsized close to Atlantic sea; 86 miles away from the nearest shore— yet his heart beats home,” aniya.

Sa pagpapatuloy, “I was awakened by the call of duty officer with sense of urgency that we need to rescue someone. As merchant mariners, we were trained to the toughest degree of distress that can possibly happen at sea. However, the actual scene is often different.”

“After each careful maneuvers Captain has to make, we successfully rescued Mr. Stuart. Before I could start questioning, he first asked me What day it is today? November 29!, I responded. By the look on his face, I saw his teary eyes as he made sign of the cross. He was drifted in the open sea for days, maintaining his stance at the top of his capsized boat, to not make any single move as it may trigger his yacht to sink fully.”

“We offered him dry clothes and hot meals. I choose to give him my lucky shirt. I could give him a new one but this one is my favorite. I wish him the same comfort this shirt has given me during those tiring job interviews. Just like him, I was lucky to get the job. He was lucky too that our course crossed in the Atlantic.”

“The story of Stuart is no different from others who are pleading for help today; in this time of pandemic. You don’t need to sail out in the ocean to rescue and serve your purpose. There maybe too many Stuarts who happen to be your neighbor, a friend, or just like the Stuart we came to know, a stranger that needs help. Help in any way you can, whenever the opportunity to help is present,” aniya.

Dagdag pa niya, “Above all, my greatest realization is that its important for a person to have faith on something. Something you can hold on to when you are in your lowest low. As Mr. Stuart made sign of the cross, I knew that faith can move mountains. It made me whisper: God, I praise you in the storm. Thank you for being the rescue.”

Pinamagatan niya ang post na “One cup at a time / Inspired by Stuart Bee’s survival story.”
