Rabiya Mateo: “It is not the degree that will land you a great job; it is your character and perspective in life”

“It is not the degree that will land you a great job; it is your character and perspective in life,” saad ni Mateo mula sa Iloilo City, na siyang kakatawan sa Pilipinas sa prestihiyosong Miss Universe pageant.

“Graduating with latin honors is an evidence that you really did well, but life is more than what you read in books. It’s about being street smart and how you interact with people,” pagbibigay-diin pa niya.

“There are people who do not have diplomas, but they have big opportunities coming their way because they have the character.”

Basically, we need diplomas and transcript of records in order to enter a good company or find good opportunities. I think kasama rito ang pagkakaroon ng good grades, kasi dito makikita ang character mo when it comes to discipline and perseverance,” saad ng isa.

Turan naman ng isa, “For me, good character and having degree with latin honors are equally important.”

“This is good. Very motivating. But as much as I want to fully believe in this, there will be always this ‘reality’ that we should also know. Not being a pessimistic person here but, even with good character, if you do not have the qualification standards… you’ll not end up with that big opportunity. Even if it’s most-deserved,” wika naman ng isa.
