A “real-life Rapunzel” made it to the headlines of international media after allowing her hair to grow down to her heels after she refused to get it cut even after 18 years.

Kara O’Neill mentioned in her article for The Mirror published on May 16, 2016 that the woman, who is from Russia, decided not to cut her hair until the time it has grown all the way down to her feet.

Dashik Gubanova Freckle has been growing her hair for several years after she started allowing it to grow in 2003.

Freckle said then she plans on having it cut in 2017 — by the time it has reached her toes. But come December 2021, look, her hair is longer than ever. Reports say her mane measures nearly six feet long. Oh wow!

Dashik’s photos circulated in different social networking sites and the online community started dubbing her as the “real-life Rapunzel.” Because of this, Dashik’s Instagram followers has risen to more than 191,000 as of posting; all eager for updates on her hair.

An article by Laura House for Mail Online published on May 16, 2016 said that fans have suggested to Dashik to donate her hair for wigs; something which Dashik said is already in her plan.

“This post is for those who say that I should donate their hair for wigs. In 14 years, I cut a scythe. And donate hair for wigs,” she said on her Instagram account back then.

On her Instagram account, Dashik posted various photographs of her hair in different styles; all of them highlighting the unbelievable length of it.

In many of the online photos, Dashik ties her long locks into plait and has received an overwhelming amount of positive comments from fans.

How does she manage to keep her long thick hair so healthy and glowing? Well, it’s a secret that perhaps we will never know.
